Estée Lauder and the Environment
Estée Lauder realises that in order to ensure the long-term success of our Corporation, our goals need to be integrated with the human and ecological impacts of our business.

Estée Lauder constantly works to find the most environmentally friendly raw materials and non-process chemicals for use at our facilities, and continuously looks to upgrade our manufacturing process to reduce any waste or emissions.

Every Estée Lauder facility is required to have a paper and corrugate recycling programme and where applicable, programmes to recycle glass, plastic, and metals. We attempt to recycle or reuse all waste material, and when this is not possible, send the material to energy recovery facilities.

As of December of 2007 Estée Lauder began to offset 100% of its Operations' electricity usage.

Estée Lauder and the Environment - Packaging
Estée Lauder realises that after our products are used, our packaging still remains.

Our Environmental Packaging goal is to find ways to minimise the environmental impact of our packaging and make it available to be re-used after the product is finished.

Environmental Packaging Highlights:
  • All our packaging suppliers certify (and test) packaging materials to limit the use of heavy metals and other noxious substances.
  • PVC is never used when it is feasible to replace with other materials.
  • Estée Lauder does not utilise any material derived from "Old Growth Forests." It is our policy that all wood fibre must be sourced from either recycled paper, fibre products, or managed sustained yield forests.
  • The Company maintains a "Global Environmental Packaging Reference Guide" which provides updated environmental requirements worldwide. It allows consideration of the life cycle of the product being developed to ensure that they are not hazardous and that minimal waste will result from their use.
  • Estée Lauder is using 100% PCR plastic content in its promotional bottles.
  • Estée Lauder use 80% recycled content in all of their matte and satin anodized aluminum parts.

The outer box and thick paper used in all Estée Lauder Online Orders are 100% recyclable. While at present the gift wrap elements (gold boxes, ribbon and tissue paper) are not recyclable they are all re-usable and we would encourage you to re-use them where ever possible.
